Alfred Shaheen 1950s Vintage Petal Bust Hawaiian Halter Dress
Vintage 50s Alfred Shaheen Hawaiian Dress with a petal bust and removable halter strap. The bodice has nice tight elastic rushing on the sides and boned cups. The petals can be worn up or flapped out as shown. The strap can be removed to make it a strapless dress. It has the brown Shaheen label. There is no size label but it is extra small. It would best fit: 24-25" waist 32"33" bust 22.5" length from the waist to the hem. The dress had been hemmed and the fabric cut off so there is only a half to an inch to let down. Otherwise the condition is excellent. Here is the legend of the ohi'a tree and the lehua blossom. THE LEGEND OF THE OHIA TREE AND THE LEHUA BLOSSOM The legend says that one day Pele met a handsome warrior named Ohia and she asked him to marry her.
Ohia, however, had already pledged his love to Lehua. Pele was furious when Ohia turned down her marriage proposal, so she turned Ohia into a twisted tree. Lehua was heartbroken, of course. The gods took pity on Lehua and decided it was an injustice to have Ohia and Lehua separated. They thus turned Lehua into a flower on the Ohia tree so that the two lovers would be forever joined together.
So remember, Hawaiian folklore says that if you pluck this flower you are separating the lovers, and that day it will rain. The item "Alfred Shaheen 1950s Vintage Petal Bust Hawaiian Halter Dress" is in sale since Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
